When Ragwort reaches it's flowering stage, what month does it start to die, when the seeds blow and spread.

I have spent four whole days digging ragwort up which has reached the flowering stage. I have bagged it and will burn it when it has died. \if the weed is left in the field, when do the seeds start to blow and spread, ie, which month? Hope anyone can help.

You say you are leaving the ragwort in the field and want to know when it flowers.

First of all i hope you have not got any livestock in this field such as cows, because ragwort is poisonous and will kill cows if they are allowed to eat it. Personally i would not wait until it has started to flower before getting rid of it, digging it all up sounds rather long winded, why not try spot treating the plants with something like Roundup weedkiller. As regards the flowering period it is from June to October depending on where you are the warmer the area the later the flowering.

PS this plant is still poisonous when dried out so do not let it get into hay.
