Anyone know of a plant that produces seeds that look like a miniture barrel or hand grenade shape?

When I was little, my uncle had plants on the side of his house. They would produce hundreds of seeds that reminded me of little tiny hand grenades. They were black and barrel shaped. I'd say they were smaller than a sunflower seed. Any ideas? No one else remembers these in my family. I don't remember what the flowers looked liked just there were alot of seeds my lil hands could scoop up.

I remember the same thing from when I was little-- I think the plants were called "four o'clocks". At least, that's what I remember them as... They were purplish blue, maybe 3-5 petals? long, thin darkish green leaves... that's how I remember them. I remember mom telling me they were named that because the flowers opened up at that time every day. Hope that helps?
Reply:I'm thinking your talking about 4 o clocks
Reply:Yep, 4 o'clocks-- last ones I had were either yellow or dark pink-- fragrant-- will reseed.

The bloom is somewhat like a petunia.

Easy to find seeds-- and if you see anyone with the plant-- well, the seeds are there, too!

good luck
