I live in zone 5 Ontario Canada. The seeds are here http://www.tmseeds.com/product/4147 . They are a rare variety, because they can flower the first year if sown indoors 8 weeks before planting outside. But when would they bloom? I know most foxgloves bloom early summer, but would this one bloom midsummer, since it is is ment to flower the first year? When would this one bloom? Thanks in advance.
p.s. foxgloves are one of my favourite flowers.
When do these foxglove seeds bloom?
Foxgloves are notoriously biennial or a short lived perrenial, and will usually self set where happy, especially into pots where you'd rather them not. You'll know when you can safely plant out in the spring, and so know when it's best for you to sow the seed. Flowering will of course be later than a biennial that has overwintered and enjoyed the gradual warming of the spring soil, but the flowering of these will depend on the years climate, your soil and the amount of water and feed you give. Living in the south of England I had foxgloves flowering until early September this year.
Reply:Most foxglove does not bloom the first year, som enot even the second. My foxglove which I started from seed, took 3 years to bloom. But, the plany was very strong and healthy and I had 3 diffrent blooms from it. June-August.
Reply:I'm also in zone 5 (Wisconsin), and the greenhouse-grown foxgloves I've boughten usually bloom towards the end of June. If you got them started early enough, they should bloom around the same time.
(Isnt' Thompson-Morgan great !!!)
